Boardwalk renewal works underway at Seventeen Seventy
Renewal works on the popular timber boardwalk at Air Sea Rescue Park, Seventeen Seventy are underway with completion scheduled for mid-December 2025, weather and site conditions permitting.
Gladstone Mayor Matt Burnett said the renewal works form part of Council’s 2025/26 Capital Works program and have been designed so the boardwalk remains safe, visually appealing and environmentally sustainable for years to come.
“Works involve replacing all existing decking boards, kick rails, handrails, stairs and seating with longlasting composite materials,” Mayor Burnett said.
“Temporary fencing will be in place, but public access to amenities, the beach and most of the Air Sea Rescue Park will remain open.
“No works will occur during the September school holidays or on the King’s Birthday public holiday, minimising disruption during peak visitation times.
“We appreciate the community’s patience during this important renewal project, which will deliver a safer, more enjoyable experience for all who visit Air Sea Rescue Park.”
Contractors will operate weekdays between 6.30am and 6pm.
Some parking and pedestrian access near the work site may be affected, with traffic control in place when required.
