There are a number of sites located around the Gladstone Region where travellers can stop to rest or stay overnight.

  • Nearby Calliope Historical Village provides refreshments such as tea, coffee, and soft drinks.
  • Markets are held at Calliope Historical Village on a frequent basis

  • 38 camp sites available for tents and caravans. Allocation is on a 'first-in' basis only.
  • Unisex and disabled toilets
  • Cold water beach shower

  • Unpatrolled beach adjacent
  • Maximum stay is 14 days.
  • Dogs must be leashed and tethered

Site 4 - Gladstone Harbour Islands

Location

Two Sites:

The Oaks Camping Ground, Facing Island
South End Camping Ground, Curtis Island

Access via private boat or the local ferry service which operates five days per week.

There is no potable water available on the island. Campers are to bring enough water supply for the duration of their stay.

  • Composting toilets on both sites cleaned regularly be caretakers
  • 32 camp sites available at “The Oaks”
  • 20 camp sites available at “South End”
  • Dogs must be leashed and tethered

Cost

Overnight campers require a permit.
Permits available for:

  • Family (2 adults and 2 children under 17 years) per day
  • Per person per day
  • School groups – attending an approved school excursion per person, per day

Existing Infrastructure/Toilets:

  • Camping only permitted in the enclosed area at the northern end
  • Site is very basic. No facilities or rubbish bins.
  • Dogs must be on leash and well trained to voice commands

Cost

Yearly or weekly permits available and a charge applies for replacement permits.

Gladstone has several water fill stations situated side by side with dump point locations.

  • No usage charge

Miriam Vale Caravan Dump Point

Cnr Blomfield Street and Dougall Street, Miriam Vale

  • Potable water available on site (but no signage)

Seventeen Seventy Caravan Dump Point

Cnr SES Access and Captain Cook Drive, Seventeen Seventy

  • Water is designated as “Non-potable” as there is no back-pressure valve installed.
