Central to Defence

Gladstone Regional Council is a founding partner of Central to Defence which seeks to attract new investment and activity related to Defence and the defence industry.

Alongside Livingstone Shire Council, Rockhampton Regional Council and Regional Development Australia Central and Western Queensland, the Central to Defence Working Group aims to highlight the significant opportunities the Central Queensland region presents as a strategic hub for Australia's defence industry.

Central to Defence is advocating for increased supply chain opportunities and Defence activities, to be supported by the region's strategic geographic location, deep-water ports, versatile airports, world-class military training facilities and strong infrastructure.

The Group’s work is largely driven by $1 million in Queensland Government funding to support the development of a Central Queensland Defence Industry Precinct Business Case.

We strongly encourage Defence and defence industry to consider the wealth of opportunities in Central Queensland, outlined in the Central to Defence prospectus,(PDF, 5MB) which stand ready to enhance Australia's Defence capabilities and industries.
