Becoming an Australian Citizen is an important step in the journey of immigration to Australia. Gladstone Regional Council welcomes new Australian Citizens to the region.

Applying for Citizenship

Information on applying for Australian Citizenship is available by contacting the Department of Home Affairs on the Citizenship Hotline on 131 881 or via the Department of Home Affairs. You may be required to undertake a citizenship test depending on your eligibility. Please contact the Department for further information.

Citizenship Ceremonies

The Gladstone Regional Council in conjunction with the Gladstone Entertainment Convention Centre conducts approximately four ceremonies annually, these ceremonies are presented by the Mayor and the dates are determined in advance and cannot be changed.

If you require an Urgent or Private Ceremony due to extenuating circumstances you will need to contact the Department of Home Affairs to make a formal request, if an Urgent or Private ceremony is approved the Gladstone Regional Council and Gladstone Entertainment Convention Centre will be notified.

Council holds a special public ceremony in conjunction with Australia Day and National Citizenship Day.
