Council offices and facilities (including Gladstone Region Pound) will be closed, reopening on Tuesday, 11 August 2026. Gladstone Tondoon Botanic Gardens, Benaraby Landfill, and waste transfer stations will remain open.

Bin collection will take place as per a normal Monday.

Works and Projects

Council has adopted a $441.3M Budget and Operational Plan for 2026/27 that includes a Capital Works program of $142.8M, supported by $37.56M in Queensland and Australian Government funding, bringing the total amount of external funding received to $60.7M.

The 2026/27 Capital expenditure of $142.8M includes (but not limited to):

$36.6M on upgrades to water and wastewater (sewerage) infrastructure
$30.6M on capital roads and drainage projects
$23.4M in sport and recreation projects
$17.6M on footpath and cycle upgrades
$11.1M on waste handling and disposal projects
$3.9M on bridge replacements and upgrades.

Advanced Water Meters - Stage 6 Installation

Upgrade of existing water meter infrastructure to new, advanced water meter infrastructure at residential and commercial properties in Boyne Island, Tannum Sands, Benaraby and Wurdong Heights.

Agnes Water Beach Visitor Carpark

Work to construct an overflow carpark at 5 Agnes Street, Agnes Water, to provide an additional 49 car parking bays to one of the region’s most popular beaches.

The project will provide safer and more convenient access to Main Beach, help to ease road congestion in the area, and better care for the surrounding environment.

Announcement : Temporary fencing will be in place along the embankment adjacent to the public parking area on Jeffery Court until further notice.

Air Sea Rescue Park Boardwalk Renewal

This project aims to renew this popular asset to provide an improved, safe, aesthetic and environmentally friendly boardwalk access for the public.

Works are being undertaken by Contractors.

Blackmans Gap Road - Culvert Renewal

Replacing the existing culvert along Blackmans Gap Road, located between the Vanderwolfs Road and Burgess Road intersections.

Bororen Cemetery Works

These works are included in Council’s Capital Works program and will involve construction of a new Columbarium Wall at Bororen Cemetery.

Boyne Tannum Aquatic Centre

Construction of the Boyne Tannum Aquatic Centre (BTAC) is underway with completion expected by about mid-2027.
Features of BTAC will include an 8 lane, 50m outdoor heated pool with a retractable shade sail at the shallow end, change rooms, kiosk and a locally themed children's play area.

Curtis Island Air Valve Chamber Modification Works

Critical infrastructure upgrade works on Curtis Island are scheduled to start from the end of January 2026.

Works will be carried out by Contractors at various designated locations across Curtis Island.

Dawson Hwy, Calliope - Shared Path Construction

Works, as part of Council’s Capital Works program will involve construction of a shared path to support Council's Pedestrian and Cycle Strategy, providing cyclists and pedestrians with a safe and dedicated pathway, reducing the need to share the roadway with motorists.

Harbour Arbour

Replacement of critical underground infrastructure near the end of its asset life.
Installation of larger underground pipes to lessen unplanned water and sewer disruptions and reduce long-term maintenance.
Street lighting upgrade moving overhead power lines to underground.
Road and footpath works to provide pedestrian safety and streetscape improvements.
