A substantial number of decking boards on the existing timber boardwalk have been identified as requiring replacement. All existing decking boards, kick rails, handrails, stairs and seating will be replaced with composite material to provide longevity of the asset. This project aims to renew this popular asset to provide an improved, safe, aesthetic and environmentally friendly boardwalk access for the public. Works are included in Council’s 2025/26 Capital Works program and is being undertaken by Contractors.
Work is being planned with public safety as a priority, with Council extremely mindful of peak holiday and tourism times and with the community, nearby residents and businesses, visitors to our region and dates of known community events near the area considered.
Work is planned to occur in stages to help minimise public disruptions.
During works, sections of the park will be temporarily fenced off for safety; however, public access will remain open to amenities and the remainder of the park with access to the beach maintained. At times, some carparking spaces may be unavailable.
