Commercial Filming

1. Overview

Looking to film commercially in the Gladstone Region? You may require approval to film in Council-controlled areas and roads.

Filming commercially could look like:

  • Feature films
  • Television commercials
  • Television series
  • Reality and travel shows
  • Web series
  • Corporate videos
  • Still photography for commercial use.

Filming commercially does not look like:

  • Audio and visual recording of a private celebration or event (a wedding, birthday)
  • Filming for a school/university project
  • Filming for personal use (capturing memories of your holiday around our region).

For major commercial filming activities on Council-controlled areas, Council should be informed so we can ensure the activities:

  • Are carried out safely
  • Don’t significantly impact residents, businesses and visitors
  • Don’t conflict with other events or activities happening in the region.

How to book a council-controlled area WITHOUT exclusive use

Council has various parks, foreshores and open spaces across the region which can be booked for private events, however this does not give you exclusive access to that area, so you will need to factor in noise and privacy controls.

For closure of a council-controlled road complete an Application to Carry Out Works on a Council Road or It’s Operation(PDF, 283KB).

How to book a council-controlled area WITH exclusive use

If you require exclusive access to a council-controlled areas such as a parks, beached or roads, contact Council to discuss a bespoke licencing agreement.
