Closed on Christmas Day.
The Administration Office and Visitor Information Centre will be closed from 4pm on Tuesday, 23 December, and reopen on Monday, 5 January 2026.
Yūjō Bonsai House will be closed from Saturday, 20 December 2025, until Saturday, 3 January 2026.

Gladstone Tondoon Botanic Gardens has a brand-new attraction following the recent opening of Yūjō Bonsai House.
Yūjō is a Japanese word for friendship, with the new Bonsai House named by the Saiki City Sister City Committee. The Bonsai House officially opened on Sunday 26 October 2025 and will display between 20 to 25 bonsai trees at any time. Opening hours vary, please check availability before planning a visit.

NOTE - The Bonsai House will be closed if there has been heavy rainfall at the gardens. If unsure please contact us before your visit.

Junction Cafe at Tondoon opens seven days a week from 7am - 2pm (closed Good Friday and Christmas Day).

In 2015, a plan was developed for demonstration gardens on the southern bank of Lake Tondoon. They would show how local native species could be used in the Gladstone Region, focusing on:
- Port Curtis plants in your own garden
- How to grow your own produce organically at home
- Research and development
- Pacific flora link garden
