Gladstone Region ratepayers can take advantage of a 60-day discount period on their 2026/27 rates notice, which will arrive electronically via email for EzyBill users, or by post with an issue date of 18 September 2026.

Registered Online Service Users will receive an email advising when their rate notices are available via their online account.

Rates notices include general rates, water consumption, waste services, availability charges for water and sewer, the Gladstone Area Water Board (GAWB) Water Security Charge (for properties serviced by the Lake Awoonga Water Scheme), and the State Government’s Emergency Management Levy.

A 10 per cent discount is available for those who pay their rates and service charges in full before the due date of Tuesday, 17 November 2026.

The 10 per cent discount does not apply to the State Government’s Emergency Management Levy, water consumption charges, transfer of ownership fees and GAWB Water Security Charge.

Gladstone Regional Council offers eligible pensioners a rates concession of $350, an increase of $30 this year, in addition to the Queensland Government’s Pension Subsidy of a maximum of $200 per annum.

Please contact Council if you have recently been granted the pension, and our friendly team can assist to see if you are eligible for these concessions.

Ratepayers within the Lake Awoonga Water Scheme will pay a Water Security Charge on their rates notice. This charge has been passed on by GAWB to fund the ongoing operation and construction costs of the Fitzroy to Gladstone Pipeline.

Council advocated against this charge and is grateful to receive assistance from the Queensland Government this year to offset this charge. This assistance will reduce the Water Security Charge on your rates notice from more than $400 to less than $72 this financial year for a residential 20mm connection.

Another key decision in this year’s budget is the introduction of a land valuation averaging model to calculate rates.

This follows land valuation notices issued earlier this year by the Queensland Valuer-General.

Valuation averaging helps smooth the impact of significant valuation increases by using the average of the current and past two years’ valuations.

While the way rates are calculated will vary between properties, this decision demonstrates Council’s commitment to minimising this impact on ratepayers.
