Project information

This significant project represents generational infrastructure and an investment in the health and well-being of the Gladstone Region for many decades to come.
Construction of the Boyne Tannum Aquatic Centre is underway until about mid-2027, site conditions and weather permitting, at the Lot 5 Arthur Street, Boyne Island site.
BTAC features will include an 8 lane, 50m outdoor heated pool with a retractable shade sail at the shallow end, path and change rooms to meet Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) compliance, kiosk, locally themed children's play area, rubber surface on playground for wheelchair access, barbecues and picnic shelters with tables modified for wheelchair access, new bus stop on Wyndham Avenue, safer pedestrian connection with new concrete footpath from the John Oxley Bridge, along Wyndham Avenue linking to existing footpath on Arthur Street.

Planned works forecast

The main excavation of the 50m pool has been completed and is being prepared for the construction of the concrete shell.
Underground services for electrical and drainage have also commenced.

Upcoming works
- Commence pool plumbing and reinforcement.
- Continue retaining wall construction.

What to expect during works

Works Monday to Saturday, 6.30am-6.30pm, site conditions and weather permitting.
Heavy machinery and equipment operating, vehicles and workers.
General construction activities.
Noise and vibration from the work area is expected.
Water trucks for dust suppression, as necessary.
Temporary construction fencing around the work area.
Pedestrians please follow any signs and directions near the work site.
