Project information

  • 49 car parking bays, including two PWD (People with Disabilities) parking bays for increased accessibility.
  • A limited carpark footprint to minimise the impact on the surrounding environment.
  • Stormwater and environmental management processes to better manage the site and the surrounding environment.
  • A 6:1 ratio of parking spaces to trees to utilise natural shading options.
  • Boom gate entrance and secured boundary to prevent after-hours use (i.e. Illegal camping)
  • Acoustic wall to reduce noise impact on neighbouring properties with an environmentally considerate design to maintain the existing tree along the boundary.
  • Public seating and a water fountain for community use.
  • Potential locations for public art installations both inside and outside the car park.
  • Ecology and engineering issues highlighted in the court decision are being adhered to.
  • On-street RV (recreational vehicle) parking along Agnes Street.

Works update

Temporary fencing will be in place along the embankment adjacent to the public parking area on Jeffery Court until further notice. This is necessary to ensure safety and to prevent erosion and sediment run‑off following rainfall.

During periods of rainfall, conditions at the site may change quickly. This may result in temporary restrictions to parking availability while safety and environmental protection measures are in place.

  • Landscaping and Fencing: Works to be undertaken simultaneously.

  • Furniture: Park benches, bollards and water fountain to be installed following completion of landscaping. Water connection installed.

  • Boom gate: Electrical wiring and metering panel installation completed. Boom gate install to follow.

  • Solar lights: Work in progress.

  • Electrical: Property pole installation as part of finalisation of electrical works.

  • Concrete work: All remaining concrete works will follow finalisation of light foundations.

  • Signage: In progress.

  • Operational Management Plan: In finalisation.

20 and 21 June 2026: Some works in the carpark will be carried out this coming weekend, as well as in Jeffery Court. Work will likely affect traffic movement and parking allocation along Jeffery Court. Traffic management will be in place.

It is important for Council to see the project to completion to ensure warranty provisions are in place for the future. We expect this project to be delivered at a high standard, however also acknowledge the importance of warranty periods to ensure improvement costs are not passed on to the ratepayer.

We are committed to delivering in accordance with our approvals and cannot open the carpark until all aspects of our approvals are met.

We appreciate the patience and understanding of the community and visitors while we work to deliver this project.
