Gladstone Regional Council is committed to fostering engaged, involved and proud communities.
In addition to our Community Investment Program the below funding sources are also available.
Turtle Tank Fund
Status: Open
The Together Gladstone initiative will partner with Gladstone Regional Council (GRC) and Gladstone Area Promotion and Development Limited (GAPDL) to support the region’s tourism industry through the challenges and recovery from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Turtle Tank Fund is designed to enhance unique opportunities including innovative ideas, campaigns and initiatives in the tourism space which aim to benefit the region now and into the future.
Council has contributed $50,000, with a further $50,000 being contributed by the Together Gladstone Fund totaling $100,000 available for ideas that make tracks in tourism and innovation.
Financial contributors of the Together Gladstone Fund include Boyne Smelters Limited, ConocoPhillips as downstream operator of Australia Pacific LNG, Queensland Alumina Limited, Rio Tinto Yarwun, Santos GLNG, Shell’s QGC Business and other local industries. Coming together to support the region’s social, tourism and economic sectors, the Together Gladstone Fund are proud to be involved with the Turtle Tank Fund to make a real difference in the lives of the region’s residents.

Applicants can be:
- Not for Profit Organisations
- Businesses/Commercial Operators based in the Gladstone Local Government Area (LGA)
- Partnerships/Consortiums
Applicants must:
- Be incorporated (not applicable for businesses)
- Have an Australian Business Number (ABN)
- Be financially solvent
- Have an operational bank account for the funds to be paid into.
Applicants must not be:
- Religious Organisations
- Political Organisations
- A Sporting Club
- Educational Institutions
- Local, State and Federal Government agency
Projects should be able to demonstrate they are innovative, sustainable, environmentally conscious and aligned to the GRC Visitor Economy Strategy and sub-strategies as well as the GAPDL Destination Tourism Plan. There is a preference for projects which leverage off current events and or existing infrastructure in the region.
- Applicants will attend a Tourism Innovation Fund information session. (If you missed the information session in January 2022, please contact tourismmanager@gapdl.com.au for access to the virtual session).
- Applicants will submit a written application outlining the concept of the initiative to the panel for assessment;
- Successful written applicants will be invited to attend the Turtle Tank where applicants will be required to pitch their initiative to a panel of expert investors which will consist of five members.
Council have final sign off on successful submissions.
Supporting Regional Arts Development
The Gladstone Regional Council Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Gladstone Regional Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland.
Local arts and cultural groups and individuals can apply for funding for specific short-term projects.

Together Gladstone
Gladstone Regional Council and the region’s major industries have come together to continue supporting our region’s recovery from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Together Gladstone fund supports the region’s social, tourism and economic sectors through targeted investment decisions.
Financial contributors Boyne Smelters Limited, ConocoPhillips as downstream operator of Australia Pacific LNG, Queensland Alumina Limited, Rio Tinto Yarwun, Santos GLNG, and Shell’s QGC Business, will work together with Gladstone Regional Council to administer the fund.
There will be various funding streams available falling under the categories of Community, Tourism and Economic, with several recipient projects already identified.
Local not-for-profit groups will be able to apply for grants of between $5,000 and $10,000 to deliver initiatives in the areas of Health and Wellbeing, Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence, Youth and Education.
