Community Engagement
Council is committed to fostering engaged, involved and proud communities and a vital aspect of this is Council’s commitment to community engagement.
Late 2019 saw the launch of Council’s very own online digital engagement platform - Conversations. A space where our community can be informed and help shape our Region by contributing to projects and initiatives across the Gladstone Region.
Community members can help shape our region by letting us know:
- What’s important to you
- How you feel about issues within the region
- Specific plans and projects that Council has in mind
- The services that you want in your community
- How Council’s existing programs and services are doing, and where Council can improve.
Community Engagement Framework
The Community Engagement Policy (2019) outlines Gladstone Regional Council's commitment to actively engage the community in Council decision-making activities, particularly when decisions directly impact on how residents live, work, use services and recreation facilities, play and do business.
Council's Community Engagement Policy ensures an effective and meaningful process of involving the community on issues that have a significant impact on the future of the city and local neighbourhoods. Council's community engagement policy is underpinned by International Association of Public Participation (IAP2), an international leader in public participation.
The framework is a 'living' document that can be changed according to the changing needs of the community. Residents are invited to view our strategy and provide comment to ensure our strategies remain current and relevant to our community.
Community Development Strategy
The Gladstone Regional Council Community Development Strategy 2021-2026 provides direction for how Council will, in partnership with the community, continue to foster engaged, involved and proud communities in the region.
