Prospective Apprentices and Trainees encouraged to attend info session

Council is offering a wide variety of diverse roles as part of its 2026 Apprenticeship and Traineeship Program with an opportunity to learn more at an upcoming Information Session.
Council will host a pop-in Information Session about the program between 4.30pm-6pm on Tuesday 17 June at Philip Street Communities and Families Precinct (Maxine Brushe Building) prior to applications opening from noon on Monday 30 June until noon on Friday, 18 July 2025.
Gladstone Region Acting Mayor Natalia Muszkat said that while attendance isn’t compulsory to apply for a 2026 Apprenticeship and Traineeship, it is strongly encouraged.
“Attendees can pop in at any time during the 90-minute session to learn about Council’s recruitment process and speak to Council leaders and current trainees about the 2026 Apprenticeship and Traineeship Program,” Acting Mayor Muszkat said.
“Council has 17 positions on offer for its 2026 intake across a wide variety of business units with training opportunities consisting of a mix of hands-on practical work and learning from experienced leaders.
“Successful applicants will have the opportunity to kick start their career within a progressive local government organisation working within a team that values their contributions.
“We are proud to facilitate the upskilling of our region and over the past two years we have had 38 apprentices and trainees successfully complete their certificates with more than 70 per cent of those people securing ongoing employment with Council.”
Positions available in our 2026 Apprenticeship and Traineeship Program include:
- Apprentice Heavy Vehicle Mechanic x 2
- Apprentice Plumber x 2
- Aquatic Operations Trainee
- Business Administration Trainee x 4
- First Nations Fire Trainee
- Live Production Trainee
- Parks and Gardens Apprentice x 2
- Pest Management Trainee
- Process Operator Trainee
- Waste Management Trainee
- Workplace Health and Safety Trainee.
Successful candidates will be provided on-the-job training and support to develop their employability skills, knowledge and experience, with roles to commence in January 2026.
RSVPs to the 2026 Apprenticeship and Traineeship Program Information Session are required by Sunday, 15 June 2025.
