Water infrastructure works along major road on track for July completion

Works to upgrade critical water infrastructure along Hanson Road, between Lord Street and Tranberg Street, are on track to be completed by July 2025 subject to weather and on-site conditions.
Gladstone Region Councillor Leanne Patrick said this upgrade forms part of Council’s broader asset renewal strategy to improve water service reliability across the region.
“The project involves replacement of the existing, aging, cement water main with a new, modern, high-density polyethylene water main,” Councillor Patrick said.
“Additionally, all associated valves and connections will be replaced to meet current standards and support long-term performance of the water network.
“Improving this infrastructure will provide water supply security for local businesses and residents, reduce the risk of unplanned outages and support current and future development in the area.”
Works are currently taking place along Hanson Road – from 6.30am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday – extending from the corner of Lord St to the corner of Tranberg St.
Temporary traffic management measures will be in place affecting the left lane of Hanson Road for inbound traffic heading to the CBD.
This may result in limited parking availability and changes to traffic flow during construction hours.
Some short-term water outages will take place during these works with advanced notice provided to impacted properties ahead of planned disruptions.
