The popular Garage Sale Trail adds an online feature to this year’s event
Gladstone Regional Council is continuing its support of the national Garage Sale Trail, joining more than 115 other councils across the country as the popular campaign adopts an online element in 2020
Garage Sale Trail events are free and will take place both online and in the real world this year, meaning people can take part no matter what restrictions are in place.
With a 2020 appropriate tagline of ‘The Recovery Edition’, the Garage Sale Trail is all about helping people make or save money while selling or buying second-hand goods.
The Gladstone Region’s Garage Sale Trail will be held on Saturday and Sunday, 21-22 November.
Gladstone Region Councillor Chris Cameron said the Garage Sale Trail is a great way for individuals, neighbours, community groups, sporting clubs, businesses, schools and educational facilities to declutter, all while making some money and helping the environment.
“Households, schools, community groups and local businesses are all invited to host a garage sale or shop the Trail, joining a nationwide movement that sees over 3500 tonnes of items sold and diverted from landfill,” Councillor Cameron said.
“For shoppers, it’s a great opportunity to pick up a bargain ahead of Christmas, so get those reusable shopping bags ready for the second-hand treasure hunt of your life.
“Garage sales are happening both online and in person, with guidelines developed to ensure buying and selling is done in a safe way that adheres to COVID-19 guidelines.”

Council would like to remind all active participants, host participants and visitors participating in the Garage Sale Trail that it is their individual responsibility to ensure they comply with all laws and Public Health directions, including the Movement and Gathering Direction in relation to physical distancing, hand hygiene and gathering number limitations.
