The sewer pump station located at the western end of The Oaks Road, Tannum Sands was constructed in about 1995.
As part of Council’s commitment to continuous improvement of our infrastructure, this asset has been condition assessed and identified as requiring renewal.
Sewer pump station renewal and upgrade is a project included in Council’s 2025/26 Capital Works program.

If not renewed, deteriorating conditions of the asset could increase risks of sewer pump station failure, increase maintenance costs and potentially lead to environmental impacts and lengthy operational disruption.
Upgrade will improve asset performance, reliability and efficiency, ensure adequate capacity to service future catchment needs and achieve legislative requirements and compliance.
Works to renew and upgrade the sewer pump station will generally involve:
- Emergency storage upgrade,
- Installation of venting and odour control systems,
- Sewer pump station upgrade replacing pumps, pipes, electrical and mechanical fittings,
- Installation of new section of sewer rising main,
- Electrical fit out,
- Switchboard and back-up generator replacement,
- Pump system testing.
FORECAST PLANNED WORKS
- 8-19 September: Delivery of materials to Cashin Park, Tannum Sands
- From about November 2025 until about June 2026: Construction works, site conditions and weather permitting (no works over the Christmas/New Year period).
WHAT TO EXPECT
- Contractors in the area on weekdays and weekends, 6am-6pm.
- A temporary on-site work area will be established at Cashin Park from Monday 8 September
- Equipment and machinery operating in the area.
- Noise, vibration and dust likely from the project area.
- Please follow signs and directions and be mindful of works and equipment movement in the area.
