Starring Academy Award winner Tom Hanks and directed by Robert Zemeckis, The Polar Express centres around a young boy who embarks on a magical adventure to the North Pole on the Polar Express, while learning about friendship, bravery and the spirit of Christmas.

Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett said Moonlight Movies, presented by Gladstone Regional Council, is a safe and free event suitable for the entire family.

“This is the first time we’ve held Moonlight Movies in the Boyne Valley so I’m expecting an enthusiastic crowd with plenty of Christmas cheer,” Councillor Burnett said.

“It would be great to see everyone getting into the Christmas spirit by coming dressed in some creative Christmas costumes.”

The screening of The Polar Express will take place from 6.30pm on 12 December at Pine Street, Builyan and follows Christmas in the Country which is also taking place on the day.

“Christmas in the Country will run from 2-5pm on 12 December at Builyan offering the Boyne Valley community a chance to connect and celebrate the beginning of the festive season,” Cr Burnett said.

“Christmas in the Country will feature food, entertainment, stalls, rides and activities for the whole family, while The Salvation Army will be on hand to share resilience and support information.”
