Due to heightened fire conditions, QFES has extended a local fire ban in the Gladstone Region to midnight, Friday, 25 October.
Under a local fire ban, all open fires (including backburning) are prohibited and all Permits to Light Fires which have been issued will be cancelled.
Properly constructed bbqs are permitted provided they are not left unattended. Gas and electric bbq's are permitted.
Power tools including mowers and slashers may be used but we encourage using with extreme care. Make sure adequate equipment and water is available to put out any fires if they start and that includes a person to watch out for any ignitions that may occur.
Reminder that cigarette butts should never be thrown out of a car window.
When riding or driving in the bush be aware that sparks could ignite a fire.
Additional permits must be obtained from your local fire warden for:
- Disposal of animal carcasses
- Any burning for commercial purposes
If you see suspicious activity, smoke or fire, immediately call 000.
