Innovative and exciting arts projects to receive RADF support
A local history app, podcast series and inaugural arts, crafts and music festival are some of the local arts and cultural projects to receive RADF assistance during Round One of the 2021-22 funding.
Gladstone Regional Council accepted the recommendations of its RADF Committee to allocate a total of $88,416 to 12 recipients at its 3 May 2022 General Meeting.
Local arts and cultural groups and individuals can apply for funding to support specific short-term projects during two rounds each year, closing in March and August. There is also an out-of-round allocation for Developing Regional Skills submissions.
Gladstone Region Councillor and RADF chair Glenn Churchill said a committee of dedicated arts and volunteer representatives assess these submissions using locally determined policy.
“The innovative projects to receive funding this round will be undertaken in the Gladstone Region, providing professional development opportunities for local artists as well as access to enriching activities for the wider community,” Councillor Churchill said.
Minister for the Arts Leeanne Enoch said the Palaszczuk Government is investing $2.08 million through the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) in 2021/22, matched with a contribution of approximately $2.3m from 59 councils across the state.
“RADF is a great example of working together to deliver our COVID-19 economic recovery plan, supporting employment opportunities and creating new arts and cultural experiences in local and regional communities,” Minister Enoch said.
“RADF in 2021/22 will provide valuable social, health and economic outcomes for regional Queenslanders, and support our Government’s 10-year arts roadmap priorities to strengthen Queensland communities, activate local places, and drive social change across the state.”
A funding celebration will be held at the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum, from 10.30am Saturday, 11 June 2022, in conjunction with the Meet Me at the Café by Paulette Flint book launch – bookings are essential.

RADF is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Gladstone Regional Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland.
