Administration Offices, Depots and Rural Transaction Centres
- Council’s Administration Offices and Rural Transaction Centres will shut from close of business (COB) on Wednesday, 24 December and resume normal hours on Friday, 2 January.
- Depots will also close at COB on 24 December and reopen on 2 January, as per normal hours

Transfer Stations, Landfill and Waste
- Kerbside bin collection services will occur Monday to Friday as per usual schedule during the Christmas period
- Benaraby Landfill will operate on normal hours except on Christmas Day, where it will operate on reduced hours from 7.30am-3pm.
- All Transfer Stations will be closed on Christmas Day but will operate as normal on Boxing Day and Public Holidays in December and January
- Tip Top Shop at Benaraby Landfill and Gladstone Transfer Station will be closed 25-26 December.
Community Facilities
Animal Pound Facility
- Closed Public Holidays.
- Impound Releases are by APPOINTMENT ONLY. Please phone Council on (07) 4970 0700 to make an appointment.
- Registrations are to be completed online via GRC payment website PRIOR to contacting Council to make an Impound Release Appointment.
- Impound and Sustenance fees will be payable at the Pound via EFTpos ONLY – NO CASH facility.
- If the animal is not microchipped, Council will arrange an appointment with the animal owner when GRC reopens to conduct the microchipping – the cost of the microchip will be paid at time of release as it is included in the Pound Release Fees.
- Only one person per appointment is allowed in the Pound.
- Please bring your own restraints (leashes or cages/carriers) when collecting your animal.
- Normal hours and processes will resume from 2 January 2026.
- Animal traps will not be hired to the public from close of business on Tuesday, 2 December 2025 and those that are hired out MUST be returned by noon on Tuesday, 16 December 2025.
Aquatic Centre and Pools
- The Gladstone Aquatic Centre and the Mount Larcom Pool are operated by the Gladstone South Swimming Club.

- Note the Calliope Pool is owned by the Education Department and is run by Gladstone South Swimming Club. View the Calliope Pool Facebook page for opening hours, learn to swim classes, and fees.
Cemeteries - All
- Vehicle and pedestrian access will be available throughout the Christmas/ New Year period (depending on layout of facility).
- The gates to Port Curtis Cemetery, Calliope Cemetery and Boyne Tannum Memorial Parklands will be open to vehicles and pedestrians between 8am-6pm on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day
- Funeral services will be unavailable on 25-26 December and 1 January.
Gladstone Entertainment Convention Centre
- The GECC Box Office and venue will close - 4.30pm Monday, 22 December 2025; and will resume normal hours from 9am Monday 5 January 2026.
- Bookings and tickets to events can still be made online.
Gladstone Regional Art Gallery and Museum
- Closes - 4pm Wednesday 24 December; resume normal hours Friday 2 January 2026.
Gladstone Region Libraries
- Regional Libraries will close from 5pm on Wednesday, 24 December and re-open Friday, 2 January 2026, as per standard opening hours.

Gladstone Tondoon Botanic Gardens

Australia Day Public Holiday
