Works will be undertaken by a local, civil contractor, to deliver a critical water infrastructure upgrade along Hanson Road, Gladstone.
This upgrade forms part of Council’s broader asset renewal strategy to improve water service reliability across the region.
The project involves replacement of the existing, aging, asbestos cement water main with a new, modern, high-density polyethylene (HDPE) water main. Additionally, all associated valve assemblies and connections will be replaced to meet current standards and support long-term performance of the water network. - Commencing

The existing water main has reached the end of its service life and is increasingly vulnerable to leaks and failures.
Replacing it with a durable HDPE pipe will:
- Improve water supply security for local businesses and residents,
- Reduce the risk of future unplanned outages,
- Support current and future development in the area.
WHAT TO EXPECT
- Works will take place along Hanson Road, extending from the corner of Lord St to the corner of Tranberg St.
- Works will occur Monday to Saturday, from 6.30am to 5pm.
- Short-term water outages: Advance notice will be provided to impacted properties ahead of planned disruptions.
- Traffic impacts: Temporary traffic management measures will be in place, particularly affecting the northern lane of Hanson Road. This may result in limited parking availability and changes to traffic flow during construction hours.
- Noise and dust: Some noise, dust and vibration may occur during excavation and pipe installation, but measures will be taken to minimise inconvenience.
