- QPWS is changing to a ‘Booking Season’ model to book camping permits for the Capricornia Cays in 2026. Camping permits for all Capricornia Cay islands will be released to the public on set days and times advised in advance giving customers ample time and equal opportunity to obtain permits. The first camping permit release for 2026 will be Tuesday 3 June 2025.

Capricornia Cay National Park has camping areas on North West, Lady Musgrave and Mast Head Islands that are open for seasonal camping. All Capricornia Cay National Park camping areas are extremely popular especially during peak periods and school holidays.
The Queensland National Park Booking Service has changed to a new platform for camping permits. To improve the visitor experience for making camping bookings in this new system, QPWS is making changes to the way the Capricornia Cays National Park camping areas can be booked. This means that bookings will not be able to be made 12 months in advance.
Standard annual seasonal closure periods for all Capricornia Cay Island camping areas will remain the same.
