Canoe Point Boardwalk

On Display Indefinitely

Council considers options at Canoe Point following the closure of the boardwalk.

The assessment has found that the timber boardwalk is in poor structural condition, with significant deterioration to key elements of the structure. Given the extent of deterioration and the inability to safely inspect certain parts of the structure, partial repair is not considered viable. The boardwalk will remain closed to protect public safety while Council considers the next steps.

Council is considering several options for the future of this area, including replacement of the boardwalk, construction of a more durable pathway and small event area, or removal of the structure with more limited replacement works.

The nearby beach access stairs are being considered separately. They remain serviceable at this stage, but Council recognises they are ageing and will need to consider their future as part of broader planning for the site.

Council understands the importance of this area to the community, and appreciates your patience while we work through the problem and will provide further updates as they become available.
