Expressions of Interest open for Saiki Sister City Advisory Committee

Gladstone Regional Council is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from community members to join the Saiki Sister City Advisory Committee in 2027.

The Saiki Committee plays an important role in facilitating cultural, social, educational and community exchange activities that celebrate diversity and strengthen community connections between Gladstone and Saiki City, Japan.

EOI for the 2027 committee opened on Saturday 5 September and close at midnight on Monday, 5 October 2026.

Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett said Gladstone Saiki Sister City Advisory Committee provides Council with strategic advice and support on initiatives that strengthen the Sister City relationship and program.

“This year marked a significant milestone with Gladstone and Saiki City celebrating 30 years of being Sister Cities,” Mayor Burnett said.

“It was fantastic to welcome Saiki Mayor Kuniko Tomitaka and an official delegation including seven students to the region earlier this year to celebrate this, and there’s plenty to look forward to as the relationship continues to grow in the years to come.”

Completed EOI forms must be emailed to info@gladstone.qld.gov.au or paper copies can be handed in at the Gladstone Region Community and Neighbourhood Centre (Ngalill Building) at the Philip Street Communities and Families Precinct.
