Water saving initiatives

All residents are encouraged to be mindful of their consumption and play their part in being a water wise community.By working together and being conscious of our usage, we can ensure we have a sustainable water supply for our community now and into the future.

• Measure your water consumption via water meter/advanced water meter
• Use grey water on gardens and lawns
• Add water timers to outdoor taps
• Full load when washing
• Water saving showerheads
• Education program/s for young people/in schools
• Stop-start showers
• Signage in public areas reminding tourists of water restrictions
• Hand watering lawns instead of using sprinklers
• Catch water leaking out of tap/collect water from shower 
• Investigate using hand sanitizer in public toilets
• Use the half flush function on toilets
• Half of the park toilets switched over to ½ flush functionality only

Water wise tips

• Only turn the dishwasher on when you have a full load
• Only use the washing machine when you have a full load
• Install water saving taps or flow restrictors
• Check for leaking taps - leaking taps can waste up to 200 litres of water a day
• Install a water saving shower head in bathrooms
• Use a shower timer to minimise water usage
• Collect water when showering and reuse greywater in the garden
• Check for leaking toilets - on average a leaky toilet can waste 308 litres per week.
