Seniors Month 1-31 October

A five-week Tech and Tea social group for seniors is one of dozens of activities and events on offer within the Gladstone Region during Seniors Month in October.

Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett said the Tech and Tea event will teach seniors how to use computers, smartphones, and the internet over a cuppa.

“This friendly, informal program is a great chance for seniors to come together, enjoy a cuppa and learn more about using computers, smartphones and navigating the internet,” Mayor Burnett said.

“The Tech and Tea sessions will run each Thursday morning beginning from 16 October at Philip Street Communities and Families Precinct, but spaces are limited, so give the Gladstone Neighbourhood Centre a call on 4976 6300 to register your interest.

“This event is proudly delivered by Gladstone Neighbourhood Centre in collaboration with Gladstone Regional Libraries.”

Mayor Burnett added that more than 50 Seniors Month events – run by both Council and community groups, businesses and organisations – are taking place from 1-31 October.

“Seniors Month is a fantastic opportunity for anyone aged 55 years or older to connect, learn new skills, or brush up on old ones,” he said.

“Council has provided sponsorship for 24 of the Seniors Month activities, as part of an initiative to boost opportunities for connection and growth for seniors across the region.

“In addition to Seniors Month events, the Our Priceless Past exhibition is on display at Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum until Saturday 15 November, so make sure to add that onto your list of things to do across the coming weeks.”
