Free green waste disposal available for two weeks

Gladstone Regional Council will open a two-week window for domestic customers to drop off their green waste for free at select waste facilities.

Agnes Water Transfer Station, Benaraby Landfill, and Gladstone Transfer Station will accept uncontaminated green waste from Friday, 3 October until Friday, 17 October.

Any green waste brought to the transfer stations will be mulched and made available free to residents, subject to supply.

Uncontaminated green waste includes:

• Grass clippings
• Leaves
• Small branches
• Palm fronds
• Garden trimmings.

Gladstone Region Councillor Michelle Wagner encouraged residents to utilise the two-week window, beginning prior to the King’s Birthday long weekend (4-6 October) and Get Ready Queensland Week (6-12 October).

“Now is the perfect time to clean up your property or garden ahead of the summer disaster season,” Councillor Wagner said.

“So, if you’ve been putting off your backyard maintenance, start pruning and pencil in a trip to one of our participating waste facilities between 3-17 October.

“We will accept any uncontaminated green waste, but please avoid mixing invasive weeds and contaminants such as leucaena, rubber vine, African tulip tree, groundsel bush, giant rat’s tail grass, mother of millions, and parthenium.”

Agnes Water Transfer Station (233 Captain Cook Drive) | 8am-12pm, Monday to Friday | 1pm-4pm, Saturday and Sunday

Benaraby Landfill (48567 Bruce Highway) | 7.30am to 5pm, Monday to Sunday

Gladstone Transfer Station (Joe Joseph Drive) | 7.30am to 5pm, Monday to Sunday.
