Central Queensland’s longest-running environmental awareness event, Ecofest, is back at Tondoon on the first Sunday in June for a day of educational and informative workshops, demonstrations, activities and entertainment within the award-winning Gladstone Tondoon Botanic Gardens.

Originating in 1999, Ecofest is a free, family-friendly festival promoting sustainability and eco-friendly living.

From 9am to 3pm, attendees can explore market stalls featuring locally made, eco-friendly products, enjoy plant sales, food trucks, live music, and connect with organisations dedicated to a sustainable future.

Gladstone Region Deputy Mayor Natalia Muszkat is encouraging attendees to embrace the sustainable practices they learn at Ecofest and incorporate them into their daily lives.

“Ecofest aims to encourage and empower the Gladstone community to make positive changes towards more sustainable living,” Councillor Muszkat said.

“In 2026, the event aligns with the World Environment Day theme of ‘Climate Action’, highlighting the importance of working together to rethink how we live, work and interact with the planet.

“Simple actions like reducing single-use plastics, reusing products, recycling correctly, composting, or adding a plant to your backyard are just some of the ways to make a big difference.”
