Nominations closing soon for 2027 Australia Day Awards
Published on 14 October 2026
Nominations for the 2027 Gladstone Region Australia Day Awards are closing in a matter of weeks, but there is still time to nominate members of the community who have gone above and beyond for our region in 2026.
The Gladstone Region Australia Day Awards recognise and celebrate the individuals, groups and organisations making a positive difference in our community.
From volunteers and community leaders to athletes, artists, environmental champions and event organisers, the awards shine a spotlight on those helping our region thrive.
Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett said that while many deserving people don’t often seek recognition themselves, nominating someone is a meaningful way to acknowledge their contribution and impact to the region.
“Anyone can submit a nomination, and the process only takes about five minutes with a short summary of the nominees’ achievements all that's needed to get started,” Mayor Burnett said.
“There are eight categories to choose from including the recently introduced Environment and Sustainability Award, which will be awarded for the first time in 2027.
“The Environment and Sustainability Award has been introduced to recognise individuals, groups, schools or organisations having a positive effect on the region’s environment.”
