Date set for reopening of 50m pool at Gladstone Aquatic Centre
Published on 27 October 2026
Gladstone Regional Council is pleased to announce the 50m pool at Gladstone Aquatic Centre will reopen to the public on Friday 11 December.
Since closing to the public earlier this year, Council has been undertaking various investigations and worked with contractors to identify temporary remedial works that could be undertaken to allow the pool to reopen.
Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett said works on the pool commenced this week.
“We’re expecting to see the 50m pool reopen just in time for the summer school holidays depending on weather and site conditions,” Mayor Burnett said.
“These works will allow the pool to continue operating while we conduct further investigations and prepare for its long-term replacement.
“The 25m heated indoor pool remains available for use year-round, while the outdoor Splash Park reopened on 19 September following its usual winter closure.”
Gladstone Aquatic Centre summer opening hours are 5.30am-7.30pm Monday to Friday and 7am-5pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Facility Background
The Gladstone Aquatic Centre 50m pool was opened in October 1975 and is now celebrating its 51st year of service to the Gladstone Region community.
In April, as part of project planning for a complete re-tile of the 50M pool to extend its life, ground-penetrating radar scans identified voids beneath the shell and broken tiles.
As a result, the complete re-tile was determined to be unviable, and the pool closed to ensure patron safety while further investigations were undertaken and temporary solutions explored.
It is anticipated that the voids are caused from water leaks related to age of the facility.
