NAIDOC Week
NAIDOC Week marks a powerful milestone: 50 years of honoring and elevating Indigenous voices, culture, and resilience.
The 2025 theme, "The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy," celebrates not only the achievements of the past but the bright future ahead, empowered by the strength of our young leaders, the vision of our communities, and the legacy of our ancestors.
2025 NAIDOC Week Events
Flag Raising Ceremony and Morning Tea
The Community is invited to join us for a traditional Welcome to Country and Flag-Raising Ceremony as we recognise NAIDOC Week and the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. While the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island flags are flown throughout the year, this ceremony reaffirms Gladstone Regional Council’s commitment to acknowledging our First Nations people. The ceremony includes speeches from First Nations Elders and Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett.
After the ceremony, everyone is encouraged to stay for cuppa and a yarn at the Gladstone Civic Centre.
