Description of works

Restoring the link so the journey continues.

Council is replacing the Lions Park pedestrian bridge to provide a safer, more accessible crossing for everyone.

Works will involve removing the old timber decking while keeping the existing structural foundations in place. The brand-new bridge is being manufactured offsite and will be assembled on-site. Once complete, the new bridge will feature compliant handrails and a wider deck designed to comfortably accommodate both cyclists and pedestrians, aligning with Council’s Access and Inclusion Strategy.

What to expect
  • A portion of the car park near the bridge site will be sectioned off for construction vehicles and equipment.
  • For public safety, the bridge and the associated trail linking to Blain Park will be fenced off. Through access will not be available.
  • There is no direct detour track available at this exact location, as building a temporary bypass would damage the surrounding trees and parklands.
  • Community members are kindly asked to plan an alternative walking route during this time.

This timeline is subject to final permit approvals.

Signs will be installed at the site to notify the public of the closure.

Please be mindful of works in the area and follow all safety signs and directions.

We appreciate the community’s cooperation and patience while we undertake these necessary infrastructure works.
