Police Creek Railway Bridge to remain closed until further notice
Published on 22 September 2025
Gladstone Regional Council has paused anticipated remedial works on the Police Creek Railway Bridge near Blain Park at West Gladstone following preliminary investigations in late July revealed significant structural deterioration.
To ensure public safety, the historical pedestrian bridge was closed at the time and remains closed.
Council is currently undertaking an extensive investigation to explore options for the bridge’s future.
This process includes assessing viability, risks, costs, timeframes, and social and environmental impacts, while considering the bridge’s heritage listing and related environmental requirements.
Due to the thorough nature of this analysis, no definitive timeframes or outcomes can be confirmed at this stage.
As a result, the bridge will remain closed to the public until further notice.
Council acknowledges the bridge’s importance as a community asset but will always prioritise the safety of residents and visitors to our region.
