Seniors Month 2026 Expression of Interest

Council is inviting Expressions of Interest from community groups to deliver events during Seniors Month 2026.  

Funding of up to $1000 is available per event to support a range of activities across the region.  

Seniors Month Dates: 1-31 October 2026  

Target Age Group: Seniors aged 55+.

Applications close 9am Thursday, 27 August 2026.

Events should

• Engage seniors in meaningful ways
• Foster community connection, wellbeing and positive aging  
• Celebrate seniors as valued community members.

Examples of events may include music, arts and culture activities, sport and gentle recreation, creative workshops, wellbeing and mental health activities, and community celebrations such as morning teas, shared meals and social gatherings. 

Eligibility Criteria

• Be a local organisation, not-for-profit, or business based in the Gladstone Region
• Propose an event suitable for seniors aged 55+
• Hold or obtain public liability insurance
• Be able to issue a tax invoice to Council
• Priority may be given to ensure a diverse spread of events across the region.

Conditions of Support

• Events must be delivered between 1-31 October and be open to all seniors aged 55+
• Council acknowledgement is required on all event promotions
• Final event details must be provided at least 4 weeks before the event
• Event organisers are responsible for all aspects of delivery, including registrations, supervision, and risk management
• Funding must be used for event delivery costs
• A minimum of one photo from the event must be provided for Council reporting and Seniors Month wrap-up.

Submission of an Expression of Interest does not guarantee sponsorship. Applications will be assessed based on eligibility, cost, inclusivity, alignment with program objectives, and overall geographic and event-type diversity. Council reserves the right to accept or decline applications at its discretion.
