QPWS - Pest Management Control Program (Curtis Island)

No longer on display. Expired on 08 March 2026, 07:00 PM

Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) are planning to conduct Feral Animal Control of 1080 baiting in the Northern Section of Curtis Island National Park, State Forest and Conservation Park between Sunday, 8 February and Sunday, 8 March 2026.

These activities are conducted to reduce impacts on Flatback Turtle and Yellow Chat habitats and to reduce predation by feral animals, including feral pigs. QPWS will be installing a number of 1080 warning signs within the area informing the use of 1080 baits.

To ensure the safety of the public, no access is permitted to the protected areas North or West of Joey Lees Campground and Access road, or South of Yellow Patch Campground, during the above dates.

Access will still be available along the main access tracks to Joey Lee's Campground, North Turtle Street Day Use Area, Turtle Street Campground, and Connor Bluff Day Use Area.

Please observe all signage, barriers, and directions from rangers and do not enter closed areas.
