Sewer asset renewal scheduled for Tannum Sands

Gladstone Regional Council is set to renew and upgrade a sewer pump station located at the western end of The Oaks Road, Tannum Sands as part of its Capital Works program.
The sewer pump station is an important asset for nearby residents as it services more than 130 nearby properties including St Francis Catholic Primary School.
Gladstone Region Acting Mayor Natalia Muszkat said the sewer pump station was constructed in 1995 but has now been identified as requiring renewal.
“Upgrading the sewer pump station will improve asset performance, reliability and efficiency, while providing adequate capacity to service future catchment needs and achieve legislative requirements and compliance,” Councillor Muszkat said.
“If not renewed, it could increase the risk of sewer pump station failure, lead to increased maintenance costs with potential cause environmental impacts and lengthy operational disruption.”
Cr Muszkat said works are scheduled to commence in November through to June 2026, pausing over the Christmas and New Year period.
“The planned work will renew and upgrade the sewer pump station with a new emergency storage system, odour control, and replacement of the pumps, pipes, electrical components and switchboard,” she said.
“A temporary on-site work area has been established within Cashin Park prior to the commencement of works.
“We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding while we deliver an improved, more reliable sewerage network for residents within Tannum Sands.”
