Out and About Library van rolling into rural communities
Published on 04 February 2026
Gladstone Regional Libraries’ Out and About Library service has returned for 2026.
The van-based service allows library members to browse and borrow, collect reserves, return items, or request help with our library apps.
The Out and About Library provides convenience for rural residents who don’t live within close proximity to one of Council’s seven libraries.
The service travels to Wartburg, Lowmead and Rosedale fortnightly on Wednesdays and Boyne Valley (Nagoorin and Builyan) on Wednesday of the alternate week.
It also travels to Bororen on Monday mornings and Yarwun on Friday afternoons.

The Out and About Library has a small collection for you to browse, including fiction and non-fiction books for adults, teens, and children, large print books, picture books, magazines, CDs, audio books and DVDs.
Up to 20 items of any type can be borrowed for a three-week period. You can reserve an item from any of our libraries for free and borrow it from your chosen library, including the Out and About Library van.
You can join the library online before you visit or join on the day at the van.
