Infrastructure replacement paves the way for Harbour Arbour project

Gladstone-based company McCosker Contracting has secured the tender to upgrade essential infrastructure and transform a section of Goondoon Street with upgraded street lighting, gardens and seating.
The contract, within the Harbour Arbour site situated along Goondoon Street between Lord Street and Yarroon Street, was awarded to McCosker Contracting at the Gladstone Regional Council General Meeting this morning.
Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett said there is more to the Harbour Arbour project than meets the eye.
“The project ultimately addresses ageing water, stormwater and sewerage networks that are now at the end of their service life,” Mayor Burnett said.
“Replacing decades-old underground infrastructure will enable Council to future-proof assets providing larger, more durable pipelines to better service nearby businesses and boost water pressure capabilities while also reducing long-term maintenance costs.
“But importantly, these civil works also offer the opportune time to upgrade footpaths with a pedestrian-focused streetscape and landscaping connecting the harbour end of Goondoon Street to East Shores.
“It’s fantastic that we are now in a position to commence construction and even better to see the project awarded to a local company."

The project will commence construction in May 2026 and has received $5.3M in funding from the Australian Government via the Growing Regions Program – Round 2.
The Harbour Arbour project is expected to be completed by mid-2027.
