First elected: 2024
Councillor Simon McClintock brings a background in small business, community leadership, and governance to his role on Council.
He is focused on the core responsibilities of local government - maintaining local infrastructure, managing finances responsibly, and planning for growth in a way that is sustainable for ratepayers.
Simon has a particular interest in road and active transport networks, long-term asset management, and ensuring the region is well-positioned to support industry and economic development into the future.
He is also passionate about the long-term direction of the region - supporting greater industry diversification, strengthening agriculture, and recognising the role the Gladstone Region can play in Australia’s sovereign capability, particularly across defence, resources, and processing.
Before being elected, Simon founded a local social enterprise café that created opportunities for people facing barriers to employment. That experience continues to shape how he approaches decisions - with a focus on initiatives that are practical, sustainable, and genuinely useful to the community.
He values clear communication, listening to residents, and working through issues in a straightforward and respectful way.
Simon is committed to keeping the Gladstone Region practical and liveable - a place where people can build a life, not just pass through.
