Gladstone Australian Football Club
The Gladstone Suns are the only Australian Rules Football Club based in Gladstone. Founded in 1972 as the Gladstone Mudcrabs, the club rebranded in 2018 to become the Suns, marking a new era built on respect, family values, and community spirit while still honouring its proud Mudcrab history with an annual heritage game.
We are a family-friendly club that prides itself on Inclusion, Opportunity & Support. AFL offers a pathway for everyone — from Auskick programs for children as young as five, through to Youth, women’s, and men’s competitions.
The Gladstone Suns currently field two men’s teams (Seniors and Reserves), a women’s team, and six junior teams ranging from U7s to U17s for boys and girls.
As part of the Senior and Youth competitions, games are played across Gladstone, Boyne Island, Rockhampton, and Yeppoon.
For our Junior program (U7s, U9s, U11 Boys and U12 Girls), games are played between Boyne Island and Gladstone.
With strong ties to the Gold Coast Suns through development programs, school initiatives, and Auskick, our club provides opportunities for all ages and abilities to get involved — whether as a player, volunteer, supporter, or sponsor.
