Transfer Stations

The ReUse Sheds – Gladstone Region Tip Shops

The ReUse Sheds at Benaraby Landfill and the Gladstone Transfer Station help keep valuable resources in use and out of landfill. By recovering items that are too good to toss, the sheds support Council’s waste diversion targets and make reuse easy and affordable for the whole community.  The ReUse Sheds stock a wide range of second‑hand goods, including furniture, homeware, toys, tools, books, collectables, and more. Every purchase helps reduce waste and extends the life of quality items.

Why Reuse Matters

Reuse plays an important role in reducing landfill and protecting valuable resources.  By showcasing real examples of recovered items, our sheds encourage residents to think differently about waste and support reuse before landfill.

Every item purchased or donated helps:

  • Keep reusable goods in circulation
  • Prevent illegal dumping
  • Reduce pressure on charity and op‑shop streams
  • Support a more circular local economy
  • Divert waste from the landfill.

Hours may vary on public holidays or during extreme weather. Any changes will be posted on our Facebook page.

Fees and charges

Many recyclables can be delivered free of charge. Council charges a drop-off fee for general and green waste based on a user-pays model to balance costs. The green organic waste dropped off is broken down into mulch and offered free for domestic customers at various sites and times throughout the year. Fees are relevant to all sites.

The organic material may contain:

  • sharp objects and splinters,
  • living organisms and insects,
  • dusts and pathogens.

Council inspects unprocessed green waste in an effort to remove general waste contaminated with dropped of green waste. Some general waste contamination and synthetic material from this contamination may be present in processed mulch.
