Turkey Beach Foreshore Protection - Installation commencing soon

No longer on display. Expired on 26 March 2026, 09:00 AM

Council is installing concrete vehicle barriers in Council reserve at the corner of Bell Street and Rex Street, Turkey Beach.

These works are part of the Turkey Beach Coastal Hazard Adaptation Strategy (CHAS) and aim to reduce erosion and improve long-term foreshore stability.

Unmanaged vehicle access has been identified as a key contributor to coastal erosion and vegetation loss. The installation of barriers will help protect this sensitive coastal area. Pedestrian access will not be affected.

The barriers may be suitable for a mural reflecting local natural values such as shorebirds, fish or seagrass. If you are interested in creating this artwork, please express your interest by emailing info@gladstone.qld.gov.au.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
