Site set up for the Harbour Arbour project will commence later this month ahead of the start of construction from mid-July.

Construction work will take place in stages to minimise disruption to nearby businesses, residents, and the public. To keep our community safe, the section of Goondoon Street from Yarroon to Lord Streets will become one-way for the duration of the project.

From 17 June, temporary fencing will be installed for Stage 1 works, at the northeast section of the project incorporating properties from the Mieplace Nightclub side of Goondoon Street uphill to Chaplain Watch (24 Goondoon Street).

Stage 1 works will occur from mid-July until mid-October and will include electrical relocation and temporary works to ensure electricity continuity, stormwater demolition, excavation and installation works, road driveway, kerb and footpath works.

The following stages will then occur:

  • Stage 3: Southwest section (end Nov 2026 to early Feb 2027) works cross the road to start on the western side, from the intersection at the corner of Yarroon Street downhill to the future site of Harbour City Veterinary Surgery.

Nearby residents, businesses and visitors to the area can expect works to occur between Monday to Friday, 6.30am to 5pm, with possible Saturday or night works at later stages when approved by Council.

The Harbour Arbour project involves the replacement of decades-old underground water, wastewater and sewerage infrastructure, in addition to upgrades to streetscaping and landscaping.

The Harbour Arbour – East Shores to City Heart Activation Project has been funded by the Australian Government’s Growing Regions Program and Gladstone Regional Council.
