As part of Council’s 2023/24 Capital Works program, contractors will construct a new, three-tier retaining wall to replace the existing earth retaining wall structure at Apex Park, Gladstone.
Works will include: demolition of existing retaining wall, excavation and civil works, install of sandstone retaining walls, install of concrete sleeper retaining walls, drainage works, upgrade of existing toilet block
(provisional item), landscaping and remediation work.
Work is planned to start on 13 February, with an expected completion date of 5 June 2024, site conditions and weather permitting.

Planned works
7 May to 17 June: Amenities at Apex Park will be closed to enable maintenance to upgrade the facility while retaining wall and landscaping works occur nearby.
During this closure, nearest public amenities are located:
- Reg Tanna Park, Glenlyon Street
- Public toilets to the side of the Council building, 101 Goondoon St, street level
What to expect
- No weekend work.
- Noise from machinery operating.
- At times, some road disruptions/lane closure.
- Traffic control for nearby traffic and pedestrians.
- Some on-street parking restrictions.
