Regional Enhancement Fund
Provides Council with the opportunity to provide support for the continued growth of our region, fund the reinvigoration and activation of our region and protect and preserve our natural assets.
Sport & Active Recreation – Strategic Projects
Status: Currently there are no rounds open.
Sport & Active Recreation – Strategic Projects funding is to support sport and active recreation organisations with funding to upgrade existing or build new facilities where the organisation has land tenure.
The Sport & Active Recreation – Strategic Projects objectives are:
- Increase community participation and organisation sustainability through major upgrades or new facilities
- Provide or build a facility that encourages multi-use or shared capability
- Create a safer, more accessible and user friendly facility for participants, spectators and the wider community
- Aligns/identified within Council’s strategic plans i.e. Council’s Amalgamation of Open Space & Recreation Plans and Operational Plan
- Provide opportunities to increase the region’s sport and recreation profile.
Funding Available
Applicants can apply up to a maximum of $100,000 (ex GST).
Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for Sport & Active Recreation - Strategic Projects funding, the organisation must:
- Not-for-profit sporting organisation/active recreation group based in the Gladstone Regional Council area
- Have land tenure within the Gladstone Regional Council area (evidence is required) where the project is to be carried out
- Incorporated
- Have an Australian Business Number (ABN) or complete and attach a “Statement by a supplier” form
- Financially solvent
- Able to make at least a 20% financial contribution to the total project cost
- Allow any member of the public to become a member of the organisation/group
- Sport and/or active recreation as a primary focus.

Sport & Active Recreation – Community Projects
Status: Currently there are no rounds open.
Sport & Active Recreation - Community Projects funding is to support sport and active recreation organisations that own, lease or control land to enhance their facilities to enable increased sporting participation.
The Sport & Active Recreation - Community Projects objectives are:
- Increase community participation through maintenance and enhancement projects
- Create a safer, more accessible and user-friendly facility for participants, spectators and the wider community
- Enhance the sustainability and effectiveness of the club through the purchase of significant equipment
- Encourage multi-use or shared capability of a facility.
Funding Available
Applicants can apply for $2,500 to $30,000 (ex GST).
Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for Sport & Active Recreation - Community Projects funding, the organisation must:
- Not-for-profit sporting organisation/active recreation group based in the Gladstone Regional Council area
- Own, lease or control land within the Gladstone Regional Council area (evidence is required) where the project is to be carried out
- Incorporated
- Have an Australian Business Number (ABN) or complete and attach a “Statement by a supplier” form
- Financially solvent
- Able to make at least a 10% financial contribution to the total project cost
- Allow any member of the public to become a member of the organisation/group
- Have sport and/or active recreation as a primary focus.

Environmental Care
Status: Currently there are no rounds open.
Environmental Care funding is to provide assistance to the community to undertake initiatives that conserve or enhance the environment across the region. This includes application fees for the annual Tidy Towns competition.
The Environmental Care objectives are:
- Protect and enhance the quality of the environment
- Promote and/or deliver waste reduction and increase in use of recycling across the region
- Provide opportunities for the organisation and community to increase their skills and knowledge via education and training in environmental care
- Promote and/or deliver environmental activities and encourage community participation.
Funding Available
Applicants can apply up to a maximum of $2,500 (ex GST).
Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for Environmental Care funding, the organisation must:
Must be one of the following:
- Not-for-profit community organisation based in and servicing the Gladstone Regional Council area OR
- Not-for-profit sporting organisation/active recreation group based in the Gladstone Regional Council area
And must:
- Incorporated
- Have an Australian Business Number (ABN) or complete and attach a “Statement by a supplier” form
- Financially solvent.

Plant & Equipment
Status: Open year round
Plant & Equipment funding is to assist community organisations with costs for procuring specified plant and equipment by wet hire (operated by Council employees) of Council machinery.
The Plant & Equipment objective is to support community projects using Council plant and equipment.
Funding Available
Applicants can apply up to a maximum of $1,000 (ex GST).
Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for Plant & Equipment funding, the organisation:
Must be one of the following:
- Not-for-profit community organisation based in and servicing the Gladstone Regional Council area OR
- Not-for-profit sporting organisation/active recreation group based in the Gladstone Regional Council area
And must:
- Incorporated
- Have an Australian Business Number (ABN) or complete and attach a “Statement by a supplier” form
- Financially solvent.

Development Application Fee Reimbursement
Status: Open year round
Development Application Fee Reimbursement funding is to provide fee relief for eligible organisations from Council development application fees.
The Development Application Fee Reimbursement objective is to support improvements undertaken on Gladstone Regional Council controlled or owned land that require an initial lodgement of a new application being submitted to Council for building work, operational works, plumbing work, material change of use or reconfiguring a lot.
Funding Available
No funding limit has been applied.
Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for Development Application Fee Reimbursement funding, the organisation:
Must be one of the following:
- Not-for-profit community organisation based in or servicing the Gladstone Regional Council area OR
- Not-for-profit sporting organisation/active recreation group based in the Gladstone Regional Council area.
And must:
- A lessee or licensee undertaking improvements on Gladstone Regional Council controlled or owned land
- Incorporated
- Have an Australian Business Number (ABN) or complete and attach a “Statement by a supplier” form
- Financially solvent.

Jumpstart City Heart
Status: Open year round
Jumpstart City Heart funding supports initiatives of community organisations, CBD businesses, and individuals that contribute to encouraging visitation, overall aesthetics of the CBD, stimulate economy, and engage community and visitors.
The Jumpstart City Heart objectives are:
- Re-establishing Goondoon Street as Gladstone’s main street by improving economic and development opportunities within the CBD
- Creating a CBD destination that provides entertainment for the entire Gladstone Region
- Creating an unique identity for the CBD and achieving a sense of arrival
- Recognising the city’s heritage as an important asset and improving the quality of public spaces and streets
- Investigating alternative transport options for ease of access into and throughout the CBD
- Converting grey space to green space and improving connectivity to active open spaces.
For a project to be considered eligible, it must meet at least three of the Jumpstart City Heart objectives.
Funding Available
Applicants can apply up to a maximum of $2,000 (ex GST).
Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for Jumpstart City Heart funding, the organisation:
Must be one of the following:
- Not-for-profit community organisation based in or servicing the Gladstone Regional Council area OR
- Business based in or servicing the Gladstone Regional Council area OR
- Not-for-profit sporting organisation/active recreation group based in the Gladstone Regional Council area OR
- An educational instiution.
And must:
- Incorporated (not applicable for businesses)
- Have an Australian Business Number (ABN) or complete and attach a “Statement by a supplier” form
- Financially solvent.
