Gladstone Regional Council invites the community to a planned cultural burn workshop to be held in Miriam Vale on Council land. Applicants must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
Council is committed to bushfire mitigation and land management utilising First Nations land management techniques.
The burn will be conducted by Council’s First Nations Fire and Land Officer, Michael Wilmott in the presence of First Nations community members.
- Date: Wednesday, 8 May 2024
- Time: 7am to 10am
- Venue: Corner of Deacon Street and Henderson Street, Miriam Vale, QLD 4677
- Light refreshments will be provided
Attendees must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
Please ensure you wear appropriate personal protective equipment and clothing including:
- Long sleeve shirt and pants/trousers (fire resistant is preferable)
- Safety helmet or hat
- Safety googles/glasses
- Closed footwear - boots or trainers
- Gloves.
