The Miriam Vale Community Centre upgrade will allow for modernisation of the facility which has been used as a place of refuge through multiple disasters including the 2018 Deepwater bushfires and 2019 Mount Maria bushfires.
The upgrade aims to deliver a fit-for-purpose centre that will provide temporary shelter away from the area of impact for people in need.
The upgrade will also play a vital role in creating the social fabric of the region, providing a space that can be used all year round to come together, connect and be involved.
The centre will have a heating, ventilation and air conditioning system (HVAC) installed, electrical upgrade and amenities upgrade with Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) compliance works to help future-proof the facility and provide a comfortable place for residents to seek shelter in the event of an emergency.
