Gladstone Regional Council is following advice from Queensland Health and the Chief Health Officer (CHO) regarding the current COVID-19 outbreak in Greater Brisbane.
Council understands the concerns in the community, concerns for our loved ones, our health and finances.
Preserving our community’s safety and wellbeing is a priority and we are committed to supporting Queensland Health in their response to COVID-19. (Queensland Health Translated Resources).
On Monday, 29 March 2021, Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk announced that Greater Brisbane, including the local government areas of Brisbane, Ipswich, Moreton Bay, Logan and Redlands, would go into a three-day lockdown from 5pm the same day and masks are mandatory across Queensland until further notice.
The Greater Brisbane area lockdown was in response to cases of community transmission in Brisbane.
Queensland Health has not enforced a three-day lockdown on Gladstone or the Gladstone Region.
One of the four confirmed cases visited Gladstone between 25-27 March.
This person visited the following venues:
- 25 March – Gin Gin Bakery 1.26pm-1.33pm
- 25 March – Miriam Vale Roadhouse and Caravan Park 2.35pm-2.45pm
- 26 March – Spinnaker Park Café 10.22am-11.23am
- 26 March – Coles Stockland Gladstone 12.09pm-12.33pm
- 26 March – BWS Stockland Gladstone 4.46pm-5pm
- 26 March – Auckland House 7.23pm-9.30pm
- 27 March – Auckland House 7.33am-8.20am
Anyone who has attended these venues on the above dates is being advised to get tested immediately.
Primary close contacts of the infected person have been contacted, tested and returned negative results.

An additional testing facility will be established from 6.30am, Tuesday 30 March, at the Gerald Mylne Sporting Precinct - Gerald Mylne Park, cnr Palm Drive & Blain Drive.
Council is advising the community who have visited Brisbane since 20 March to adhere to lockdown restrictions as per Queensland Health advice.

We’re using the new Check In Qld app to help keep you COVID safe the next time you visit our Council offices and facilities.
All you need to do is:
- visit www.covid19.qld.gov.au/check-in-qld for links to download the app from Google Play or Apple App stores
- enter your details once when you first open the app
- open the app when you next visit us
- select ‘Check in Now’ and scan or enter our code
Using this digital check in means your details will be stored securely by the Queensland Government for 56 days to assist with COVID-19 contact tracing (if needed).
The Check In Qld app is safe, secure and private. By using it, you are helping Queensland’s pubs, clubs, restaurants and cafes to stay open, and you can visit us with confidence, knowing you can be contacted quickly and easily if there is any risk of exposure to the virus.
- We ask that visitors do not attend our facilities if you;
have returned from overseas or a COVID-19 hotspot in the last 14 days - have cold or flu like symptoms
- have been in contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the last 14 days
Interactions will be done as quickly and efficiently as possible to minimise face to face contact.

COVID-19 Recovery Plan
Council has focused this year on positioning the Gladstone Region towards a brighter future post COVID-19 and has established a COVID-19 Community and Economic Recovery Group.
This group, led by Council, includes representatives from industry, tourism, social services and academia. Key stakeholders discuss emerging issues, opportunities and initiatives to assist the region recover from the health emergency.
Strategies outlined from the group will be implemented over the next 12 months and progress against these initiatives can be viewed here.
