Council's Sport & Recreation Section administer the sport and recreation grants program to support the local sporting community. Grants for sport and active recreation groups cover a wide range of projects and initiatives including field / court upgrades, club amenities, lighting, shade, club training and equipment purchases.

Under the program there are three grants which provide opportunities for groups to apply for funding.

Facility Assistance Grants (two categories)

Community Projects

Assists local sporting clubs to fund projects that enhance and develop sport and recreation facilities identified within Council’s open space recreation plans.

1 round per year - opens approximately August / September each year.

Funding is available to multiple organisations.  The minimum grant available under the program is $2,500 and the maximum grant available is $60,000.

Strategic Projects

Assists local sporting organisations to deliver a significant new or upgraded sporting facility that has an identified need and delivers long term benefits to the Gladstone Regional community.

1 round per year - opens approximately August / September each year.

Funding is available for only one Strategic Project per year of up to $100,000.

Club Development Grant

Assists in the development and capacity building of sporting organisations throughout our region with a maximum grant of $1,200. Eligible projects include equipment purchases, training for volunteers and preparing planning documents.

2 rounds per year - opens approximately March and August / September each year.

Regional Sport & Recreation Events Sponsorship

Assists sporting and community groups to deliver quality events to the Gladstone Region. 

Applications open 1st August and close midnight July 31.
